Google Chromecast is a value for money device that lets you cast movies, YouTube videos and other media from a computer or mobile device to your home television to enhance the viewing experience. Here you can learn how to setup Chromecast on Mac to make the process less time consuming and hassle-free.
When hoping to setup Chromecast on Mac, you need a Chromecast device, a Mac, iMac or Mac Mini, and a Google Chrome Browser.
Setting up the Chromecast Device on a Television
Once you are ready, you need to plug in the Google Chromecast’s HDMI end into the HDMI port available in your Home TV and then plug the USB end of it to the USB power adaptor. Then you need to use the remote control of the television and change the source input of your TV to the HDMI port in which the Chromecast device is still plugged. Keep pressing the Source or input button for a while until the television display switches from HDMI1 to HDMI2.
Setting up Chromecast on your Mac
Start the process by opening the Google Chrome browser on the Mac device and visiting chromecast.com/setup. On that page, you need to click on the link that says “Set Up Your Chromecast using this Computer.” Then you will need to agree to Chromecast Privacy Terms by clicking on the Accept button. As soon as you do that, the search for available Chromecast devices on your Wi-Fi network will begin. After that, a new page will appear where you need to click on the Set Me Up button.
The next step is to click on the Wi-Fi icon that is located at the top right corner of the Mac and connect to the open Wi-Fi network of Chromecast. Then, click on the Next button. A new window will appear with a code. If the code on the Mac is same as a code that appeared on the bottom right corner of the TV, you need to click on Yes arrow.
On the next screen, you will need to provide a name for the Chromecast and click on Looks Good. Then you will be asked to confirm the Wi-Fi settings. For that, you need to select the Wi-Fi network, enter the Wi-Fi password and click on connect. If you have done everything right until now, the Chromecast will display Ready to Cast! Screen. It is an indication that you are finished with the setup and ready to cats anything available on the Mac to the home television.
